Murder victim’s family hoping to meet Taoiseach this week

Relatives of a Dublin man murdered in the west of the city last year are hoping to meet the Taoiseach this week to discuss their campaign for justice.

Twenty-nine-year-old Joseph Rafferty was shot dead outside his apartment in the Ongar estate on April 12, apparently as a result of a dispute with a local family.

His family believes the murder was carried out by an IRA man who is also active in Sinn Féin.

Speaking after a meeting with Green Party politicians this morning, they said they had been subjected to threats and intimidation from republicans both before and after the killing.

Bertie Ahern has promised to meet Mr Rafferty’s relatives to discuss their case and they said they expected those talks to take place before the end of this week.
