The Irish Congress of Trade Unions is seeking a meeting with Marine Minister Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher in an effort to prevent the loss of almost 550 jobs at Irish Ferries.

SIPTU immediately served two weeks' strike notice on the company as a result of the move.
