ESB restores power to thousands of homes in Co Dublin
20/09/2005 - 12:46:19The ESB has restored power to thousands of homes and businesses in north Co Dublin that were left in the dark following a transformer fault early this morning.
Around 3,000 premises were affected by the blackout in the Swords area, but all had their electricity supplies restored by lunchtime.
The repairs do not seem to have been hampered by strike action undertaken today by around half of the ESB's technicians.
The workers, who are members of the ATGWU, downed tools this morning as part of a dispute over the role of external contractors.
