Construction body criticises planned new Govt contracts
20/09/2005 - 11:38:49The Construction Industry Federation has criticised the Government's plans to introduce new forms of contracts for public infrastructure projects.
The federation claimed the new contracts would drive up costs and lead to legal disputes and delays, the exact opposite of what they are intended to do.
It said setting fixed prices would lead to builders factoring every possibility into their tenders, while the fact that the new contracts are unique in the developed world would cause legal challenges and delays.
