Jodie Foster dreams of a demanding role

20/09/2005 - 08:22:40
Actress Jodie Foster wants to play a violinist on the big screen because the role would demand she took lessons.

The Silence Of The Lambs star fears she's always overlooked when it comes to playing emotional roles because directors always think she's too intelligent to play creative types.

She moans: "I'd like to do a movie where I get to rise to a big mastery of something like a violinist or a trapeze artist;somebody who masters something that's physical and emotional.

"I would live in that world and bring that to who the character is. Nobody ever asks me to do that. I do the brainy movies so nobody ever asks me to do a movie where the character has a musical skill or a motional skill or a physical skill.

"I'd like to do a movie where I had to train really hard about something that I normally wouldn't know anything about for four months, whether it's javelin throwing or playing violin or learning the language.

"I'd like to try something that comes with a skill that informs the character where you have to immerse yourself in that world and get the sore muscles and calluses, and then the character comes to you through that. I feel like the only thing I really mastered is French."
