LRC to host talks on doctor-only medical cards

The Labour Relations Commission is reportedly due to host fresh talks this week aimed at paving the way for the introduction of doctor-only medical cards.

The Government is planning to grant such cards to 200,000 people on low incomes, but their introduction has so far been delayed due to a dispute with the Irish Medical Organisation.

The dispute centres on the fee that GPs will receive when a person with a doctor-only medical cards turns 70 and becomes entitled to a full medical card.
