ASTI to hold meetings on whether to rejoin ICTU

The Association of Secondary Teachers (ASTI) is planning to hold a series of meetings around the country on the possibility of rejoining the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

The ASTI has been operating outside the Congress since launching a campaign for a 30% pay increase several years ago.

Some of the union's members believed teachers were entitled to seek a pay rise outside the terms of the national wage agreement.
