McGinley fights back to level Match Play

Ireland’s Paul McGinley came from three down to be all square with New Zealander Michael Campbell with nine holes remaining in their HSBC World Match Play final at Wentworth today.

In the battle for golf’s biggest cheque – £1m (€1.46m) – reigning US Open champion Campbell led by one at lunch and then took two of the first three holes of the second round.

But McGinley, trying to become the first debutant winner since Ernie Els won the first of his record six titles in 1994, pitched to five feet on the 24th and Campbell then bogeyed the next and 27th.
