Defence the only winner in Longford
Longford Town 0 Cork City 0
Cork City moved back to the top of the Premier Division table, but only on goal difference ahead of Derry City after Longford once again frustrated the Leesiders.
It was no surprise the game ended scoreless in this clash of the two meanest defences in the league.
They have now met four times this season and produced just one goal inside 90 minutes.
With their boss Damien Richardson fit and well and back to his demonstrative self in the dugout, City created the better of the few clear-cut openings.
The best of those came as early as the seventh minute when Town keeper Shay Kelly saved well with his feet from John O’Flynn after Neale Fenn carved open the home defence.
Roy O’Donovan then brought another good stop from Kelly with a stinging left-foot drive eight minutes from time.
