Germany gets ready to go to the polls

German politicians are set to make one final bid for undecided voters today ahead of tomorrow's general election.

It's a break with tradition as campaigners don't usually canvas the day before the polls.

Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and his conservative challenger Angela Merkel will make their final pleas later.

Opinion polls place Mrs Merkel's Christian Democrats as favourites, but Schroeder's Social Democrats have been closing the gap.
