ESB strike averted as more talks are planned
17/09/2005 - 08:30:01ESB network technicians won't be going on strike on Monday.
The threatened action has been postponed for a day to allow for further talks between union and company officials.
The ATGWU is concerned that the use of outside contractors is undermining the job prospects for ESB apprentices and having a negative impact on pay and conditions.
An spokesman for the company said last night that any threat of further strike action could jeopardise Monday's talks, but the ATGWU has not ruled out that prospect
Spokesman Brendan Ogle says the action has been deferred not called off.
