Eurostar judge: New series will be about finding a 'real star'
One of the judges on the new series of 'You're a Star' has laid down the law to pop wannabes everywhere.
Brendan O'Connor said he wasn’t interested in hard-necked stage-school girls singing like Mariah Carey.
He wants a real star who will have a career long after the show is over.
Auditions begin in Galway next week, and continue in Derry, Cork and Dublin during October.
This year's winner won't go on to the Eurovision, but instead will win a record contract, management deal, music gear worth €10,000 and a €10,000 cash prize.
The straight-talking Corkman said that means a higher standard will be expected: "One thing that bothers me about these shows is seeing people coming in and they're not great but they're nice and they can sing alright and they're moved on to the next round even though everyone knows they're not going to win it."
