FÁS approves training contracts for low-skilled workers
15/09/2005 - 11:40:50FÁS has approved almost €20m worth of contracts designed to provide additional training to 20,000 employees.
The Government's training and employment agency said the initiative would be targeted at workers in sectors of the economy that are vulnerable to competition from abroad.
It said the approval of the contracts was the first step in its efforts to implement a report recommending a programme to provide extra skills training to people already in work.
The move is designed to ensure that low-skilled workers who lose their jobs due to competition from abroad have the training needed to secure alternative employment.
