Williams lose major backer
14/09/2005 - 14:35:29Williams will lose one of their major sponsors at the end of the season after Hewlett-Packard announced an early pull-out.
The computer giant, who this week announced thousands of job losses as part of a restructuring programme, have negotiated an early end to their Williams deal.
In a statement, chief marketing officer Cathy Lyons said: “We have met our objectives and it is a natural moment for HP to conclude our relationship.
“We wish them all the best as they go in a new direction next season.”
HP’s pull-out, like their massive redundancy programme, has been expected for some time and Williams have been hard at work to secure new partners for next year, when they hope to have Jenson Button and Mark Webber driving for them.
