Blessing booked for Ayr raid

14/09/2005 - 14:03:48
Alan Jarvis is happy to drop Mixed Blessing back to six furlongs in the search for more Group Three glory at Ayr on Saturday.

The filly, who goes for the TGS Firth of Clyde Stakes, was beaten two and a quarter lengths by Nannina in a Group Three event over seven furlongs at Goodwood last month having won the Princess Margaret Stakes at Newbury in July.

“She stays seven furlongs but she’s got so much speed that six suits her better,” said Jarvis, who is sending a six-strong team up to the Western meeting.

The Twyford trainer has booked Neil Callan for the ride.

“Neil’s not sat on her before but she’s very straightforward,” he added.
All being well, Jarvis has designs on the Group One Sky Bet Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 29 after Ayr.

“She’s going for the Cheveley Park after this and we’ll try to do a Henry Candy, who won both with Airwave,” he added.
