Friel feared death during childbirth

Actress Anna Friel found childbirth so painful she feared she was going to die.

The 29-year-old War Bride star gave birth to her first child, daughter Gracie, in July - and she's still traumatised by the experience.

She says, "It was 18 hours of hell. I'm still quite shocked. You think you are going to die."

Friel also suffered the mixed emotions of welcoming her daughter into the world, just two days after 55 people were killed by the July 7 terrorist bombings in London.

She adds: "I felt bad about being so jubilant after so many people had died. But I think it's a sign that life goes on."
