Ryanair announces two more low fare routes
Budget airline Ryanair announced two new routes today linking Derry with Britain.
Daily services are to be opened between Derry and Liverpool and Nottingham East Midlands airports – the first starting on February 9 and the latter on March 7.
The new services should provide a major opportunity to attract many more British tourists to Derry and the north west of Ireland.
Ryanair already flies between Derry and London Stansted.
Announcing the routes Ryanair director Sean Coyle said they were delighted to be launching the routes which would strengthen their relationship with Derry City Airport.
He said: “We expect to carry 200,000 additional low fare passengers on these new routes in their first year of operation and bring in over 80,000 additional tourists to Derry and the North West region.”
Mr Coyle said seats were available for immediate booking – with prices starting at £5.99 (€8.91), excluding tax, for a single fare.
