Canaries swoop for Davenport
Norwich have signed Tottenham defender Calum Davenport on a three-month loan.
The 22-year-old was being chased by a number of clubs, but City manager Nigel Worthington managed to persuade the England Under-21 international to move to Carrow Road.
He has had previous loan spells at West Ham and Southampton since joining Spurs from Coventry for £3m (€4.4m) in August 2004.
Davenport told the club’s official website, www.canaries.co.uk: “I haven’t been playing football at Spurs so I’m delighted to be coming to Norwich to hopefully play some games.
“Norwich are a big club and hopefully I can help them achieve what everyone wants them to achieve – promotion to the Premiership.”
Worthington added: “I’m delighted we have got Calum Davenport on a three-month loan. He is a player that we have been working on getting in for a few weeks and he will add experience and quality to our current group of players.”
