Huge car bomb explodes outside restaurant
12/09/2005 - 18:13:49A huge car bomb exploded outside a popular restaurant in Baghdad’s upscale Mansour neighbourhood tonight, witnesses said.
Hospital officials reported at least one person was killed and 17 were wounded.
A doctor at Yarmouk Hospital said most of the victims were women.
The last major car bombing in the capital was on Thursday, when a black BMW exploded as a convoy carrying US security contractors drove past.
That blast, near the heavily fortified Sadir Hotel where the security men lived, sent a huge plume of smoke into the sky in Baghdad’s busy Karradah neighbourhood, a main shopping and commercial district.
Three passers-by were injured.
