Greens willing to enter coalition with FG and Labour

The Green Party has formally signalled its willingness to enter government with Fine Gael and the Labour Party after the next general election.

Earlier this year, party members voted against any pre-election pact between the Greens and the other two parties.

However, with opinion polls showing a majority of voters would favour such a coalition, the Greens have now said they would be willing to enter post-election talks with Fine Gael and Labour.

Party spokesman John Gormley said: "We want to be part of a future government. We want to get rid of the discredited Fianna Fáil and PD coalition."
