Belfast woman 'claimed benefits despite owning 42 houses'
12/09/2005 - 11:32:24The North's Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) has secured an order freezing the assets of a woman who is allegedly claiming income support and housing benefit despite owning more than 40 properties.
The agency has claimed that the woman is receiving the state handouts despite owning 42 houses and two cars.
Most of the properties are in west Belfast and are being rented out to private tenants.
The ARA has accused the woman of failing to declare the houses when claiming income support and of making other false declarations about her assets.
The High Court agreed this morning to freeze her assets pending a legal case to have the properties officially seized.
