Lacklustre morning for ISEQ
It was a tepid morning on the ISEQ today, with the exchange currently trading at 6799.55, down 9.36 points on opening.
Ulster Television is trading at €6.60 after the media group announced record results for the six months to the end of June this year.
Group pre-tax profit before exceptionals was up 11% to £9m (€13.4m), compared with £8.1m (€12m) last year. Thanks to the group's acquisitions, operating profit at its radio interests was up 150% to £1.9m (€2.8m), compared with £0.8m (€1.2m) last year. Radio advertising in Ireland was up 36% to £6.5m (€9.6m).
In the financials, Bank of Ireland was up 1c to €13.13. BoI today announced that it is to focus on expanding its business in high growth niche sectors in international markets, while doubling its core business in Ireland.
Anglo Irish Bank fell 14c to €11.16 while AIB fell 6c to €17.82. Irish Life and Permanent followed the generally negative trend by falling 4c to €14.94.
