IBEC seeks greater use of toll roads and motorway PPPs
12/09/2005 - 08:24:06The employers' body IBEC has called for a greater reliance on toll roads and public-private partnerships in Ireland's motorway system.
The organisation believes the measures would help to double the rate at which new roads are being constructed.
In a submission to the Government on the issue, it has called for the delivery of a 2,500km network of roads throughout Ireland within the next 15 years.
In order to achieve this, it said, the rate of motorway construction must increase from 50kms per year at present to 100kms per year in the coming years.
