11/09/2005 - 11:45:16
Detectives are today examining two kilogrammes of cocaine found hidden in a jeep at Dublin Port last night.

Gardaí said the drugs, with an estimated street value of €150,000, were discovered after a search of the vehicle coming off a car ferry from the UK at 10pm.

The joint operation by customs officers and the Dublin North Central Divisional Drugs Unit also led to the seizure of weighing scales and €3,000 in cash.

A Garda spokesman said: “Forensic detectives are examining the drugs this morning and also carrying out follow-up investigations.”

A 22-year-old Limerick man was arrested under Section Two of the Criminal Justice Act and is currently being held at Store Street Garda Station.

He can be held without charge for up to seven days under the legislation.
