Chirac in 'good shape'

French President Jacques Chirac is said to be in good shape following his recent health scare.

He has been discharged from a military hospital in Paris, where he spent seven days being treated for eye problems.

Chirac was hospitalised on September 2 after what was described as a vascular problem affected his sight.

The 72 year old leader has decided to drop plans to attend next week's United Nations summit of world leaders and has also postponed a planned trip to Egypt.
