Naked rambler jailed for two weeks
09/09/2005 - 15:45:22Naked rambler Stephen Gough was today jailed for two weeks after being found guilty of a breach of the peace while on his marathon walk the length of Britain.
Sheriff Kenneth MacIver found Gough had conducted himself in a disorderly manner, exposed himself in public, causing fear and alarm and distracted drivers as he walked on the A701, Midlothian, on September 1 this year.
Gough, 46, from Bournemouth, was naked as he stood in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
He had denied the charge, claiming walking naked in public did not constitute a breach of the peace.
