Researchers claim breakthrough in breast cancer treatment

Irish researchers are claiming to have made a major breakthrough in the fight against breast cancer.

A study at St Vincent's Hopital in Dublin has discovered that using a new drug in conjunction with existing cancer treatments significantly improves the chances of survival from certain types of breast cancer.

Those behind the study said the new treatment regime saw survival rates increase from 87% to 93%.
