Ireland’s inflation rate falls slightly to 2.3%
08/09/2005 - 12:46:35Ireland's inflation rate fell slightly to 2.3% last month, according to figures published today by the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO said average prices increased by 0.4% during the month, compared to an increase of 0.6% in August 2004.
As a result, the annualised inflation rate fell from 2.4% in July to 2.3% in August.
The CSO said the most notable price change in the past year was a 10.5% increase in the cost of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels.
It said education costs had gone up by 6.8% in the past 12 months and health charges by 6.6%, while the cost of transport was up 3.5% and the prices charged by restaurants and hotels had risen by 3.2%.
