Moran facing managerial fight in Derry

07/09/2005 - 13:02:31
Current incumbent Mickey Moran is facing a fight to retain his position as Derry senior football manager.

Moran, who was appointed in October 2002, has yet to officially put his name forward for another term with nominations for the position announced next week.

While Moran is almost certain to be nominated, three men - John Brennan, Liam Bradley and Paddy Crozier - have already let their names go forward.

Bradley, father of current Oak Leaf stars Paddy and Eoin, was a recent manager of the Derry Under-21s, and led his home club Glenullin to the semi-final of the county championship this summer.

Crozier from Ballymaguigan will also have his backers as he worked with a number of Derry's current players as a successful minor manager. He guided Derry to the 2002 All-Ireland Minor crown.

Dark horse Brennan currently manages of county champions Slaughtneil and ran Moran close in a 9-8 vote for the Derry job last year.
