Britain under pressure to de-recognise UVF ceasefire

07/09/2005 - 01/01/1900 08:03:33
The British Government is under growing pressure today to declare that it no longer recognises the Ulster Volunteer Force ceasefire.

The loyalist group has been blamed for a series of murders, attacks and street riots in Belfast over the past couple of month.

This puts increased pressure on Britain to de-recognise the UVF ceasefire.

SDLP leader Mark Durkan is expected to press for such a move during a meeting today with Northern Secretary Peter Hain.
