Taoiseach hits out at Opposition over 'rip-off' agenda
05/09/2005 - 19:12:04The Taoiseach today criticised the opposition parties for hyping-up Ireland as a rip-off country.
Speaking in Co Cavan, Bertie Ahern said consumer consultant Eddie Hobbs is actually part of the Government’s war against greedy retailers.
Mr Ahern said opposition parties are giving Ireland a bad name.
“It is a disgrace for the Opposition to be going around doing their best sitting back and hiding in the grass by trying to use influence to give the country an image of rip-off Ireland. It’s hard enough to get seven million tourists in. When they were last in power we had less than two million tourists.”
