05/09/2005 - 08:18:21
A man being treated for Legionnaire's disease has reportedly died at a Dublin hospital.

Reports this morning said the man, who had an intellectual disability, died on Saturday, but it is not known if the disease was a factor in the death.

He was one of two special-needs residents who had contracted the illness in a long-stay unit at Stewart's Hospital in Palmerstown.

Legionnaire's disease can cause a potentially fatal form of pneumonia, particularly among the elderly.
