FG and Labour launch plans for government

Fine Gael and Labour held high level talks in Mullingar today on the anniversary of the accord they signed there last year to work toward forming an alternative government.

The two parties launched a joint project on cutting waste in public spending, and a document on social partnership.

Fine Gael deputy leader Richard Bruton said the meeting was more than just a reaction to Fianna Fáil's parliamentary party meeting in Cavan.

He said people want the Government to address issues such as the quality of public services and being ripped off.

"I think people want to see that the alternative have a strategy that will be different. I think that's what we have been about,” Mr Bruton said.
