Rosberg edges closer to title
Nico Rosberg is within six points of GP2 Series championship leader Heikki Kovaleinen after clinching second in one of the closest finishes of the season in the second race at Monza.
ART Grand Prix driver Rosberg finished just under half a second adrift of winner Neel Jani from Switzerland at the end of 20 laps, and climbing all over the back of the Racing Engineering car by the chequered flag.
Giorgio Pantano and pole-sitter Ferdinando Monfardni finished third and fourth, with Kovaleinen settling for fifth, losing three points to his only rival for the title in Rosberg.
With just two rounds and four races of the series remaining, Kovaleinen has 99 points to Rosberg’s 93, with American Scott Speed well adrift in third on 61.
Speed picked up two points for the fastest lap, with Ulsterman Adam Carroll a single point for his sixth-placed finish.
