Woman killed in crash

An elderly woman died in a car accident in Co Donegal, gardaí said today.

The 70-year-old front seat passenger was involved in a head-on collision with another car at Effishmore, Clonmany at 4.45pm yesterday.

She became the 253rd road accident victim to die this year and the 56th car passenger.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was later removed to Letterkenny General Hospital where a post-mortem will take place today.
