Second-level pupils have 'more income than ever'
31/08/2005 - 15:19:39Bank of Ireland has claimed that secondary school pupils in Ireland have more disposable income than ever before.
The bank said research it commissioned found that 12- to 14-year-olds had an average weekly income of just under €20, while those aged 15 or over had an average income of just over €40.
It said parents, odd jobs and babysitting were the main sources of the money, which was spent mainly on clothes, mobile phone credit, cinema, music and computer games.
Bank of Ireland, which has just launched a new account aimed at secondary school pupils, said the research also found that teenagers were fairly sensible when it came to managing their money.
