Pope lauded for stance on terrorism
22/08/2005 - 18:35:13The Pope has been praised for tackling the issue of terrorism on the first foreign trip of his pontificate.
Jewish and Muslim leaders who met him while he was visiting Germany last week, applauded him for his blunt warnings about anti-Semitism and terrorism.
He became the second Pope in history to visit a synagogue, and then met Muslims, urging them to join Christians in fighting terrorism.
They said he had made a name for himself as a peace-maker.
