Wolves snap up Anderton

Wolves have captured former England midfielder Darren Anderton on a free transfer from Birmingham.

The 33-year-old has agreed a one-year contract at Molineux, just months after signing a similar deal with Blues.

Anderton began his career with Portsmouth before spending 12 seasons at Tottenham.

Despite being plagued by injuries throughout his career, he was given a chance at Birmingham by Steve Bruce and did sufficient to earn himself a second year at St Andrews.

But whereas his chances were likely to be limited this season with Birmingham, at Wolves – managed by his former England boss Glenn Hoddle – Anderton is expected to take on a more significant role.
