Irons' singing leaves critics unimpressed

Oscar-winner Jeremy Irons' singing in a one-off stage production of musical Camelot has been heavily criticised by theatre critics.

The Dead Ringers star, who has had no formal training as a singer, turned in what many critics have described as a tuneless performance as King Arthur at the Hollywood Bowl show in Los Angeles.

And, although Irons' acting was praised, his baritone singing voice left a lot to be desired.

The Los Angeles Times critic Daryl Miller writes: "Hanging consistently beneath pitch, Irons pulled melodic lines out of shape and never looked comfortable."
