Exports down 11%

Seasonally-adjusted merchandise exports for June 2005 decreased by 11% to €6,6bn, relative to May and by 2% for May, relative to April.

On a similar basis, imports increased by 5% to €4.6bn in June following a decrease of 8% in May.

When compared with the same month in the previous year, the unadjusted exports for June 2005 decreased by €421m (-5%) to €7.3bn while May increased by €744m (+12%) to €7.2bn.

Similarly, the year-on-year imports for June increased by €301m (+7%) to €4.5bn and May increased by €319m (+8%) to €4.4bn.

Overall in the first six months of the year, exports were up from €34.7bn to €35.4bn (+2%) compared with the same period last year.
