An Post planning banking services from January

An Post is reportedly hoping to start providing banking and other financial services from early next year.

Reports this morning said the company was planning to set up a new service offering bank accounts, savings schemes and insurance products.

The service would be run by an outside company, but would operate through the existing post office network.

This morning's reports said An Post was seeking proposals from potential partners by September 9 with a view to having the new service operational by January.
