Explosion at airport of Sinai peacekeepers
15/08/2005 - 11:14:48An explosion occurred today at the airport of the Multinational Force and Observers in the Sinai peninsula near the north-east Egyptian town of Rafah, said Egyptian security officials.
The explosion wounded at least two people, Egyptian security officials said.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.
The Multinational Force and Observers was created to help implement the 1979 Camp David peace treaty between Israel and Egypt.
It comprises troops from the US and a number of European nations who act as a peace monitoring force in the Sinai peninsula – the battlefield of three Arab-Israeli wars between 1956 and 1973.
