Robbie Keane withdraws from squad for Italy game
15/08/2005 - 10:32:51Spurs striker Robbie Keane has withdrawn from the Ireland squad for this Wednesday's friendly game against Italy with an ankle injury.
The player picked up the knock in training on Friday and was forced to sit out his club's 2-0 win over Portsmouth in the Premiership the following day.
Ireland manager Brian Kerr said the injury was "not too serious", but Keane would be unable to line out against Italy at Lansdowne Road.
Elsewhere, Richard Dunne, Graham Kavanagh and Matt Holland are all included in the Irish squad despite being left out of their respective club games over the weekend.
All three were absent as they were deemed to be short of match fitness after missing part of pre-season training through injury.
