School bus shortage 'won't affect students'
15/08/2005 - 15:38:08The Minister for Education, Mary Hanafin, has promised that no child will be left without transport to school next month, despite a shortage of school buses.
Last week there was outcry from parents when the Department announced that new school buses won't be ready by September.
However, Minister Hanafin said today that every student who qualifies for a place on a school bus will get one, and that new buses have been delayed to ensure they meet new safety standards.
"By the end of next year, starting this term, every child will have their own seat with a seatbelt," she said.
