Forever races home

10/08/2005 - 16:19:31
Racer Forever stepped up on a solid effort at Goodwood on his previous start to land the opening contest at Salisbury in workmanlike fashion under Jimmy Fortune.

The 6-4 favourite gradually got the better of market rival Live Fast from the halfway point and despite drifting across his rival to the far rail just before the furlong-pole, comfotably had enough in hand to take the Carmen Wines EBF Maiden Stakes by two lengths.

Joe Mercer, spokesman for the John Gosden-trained colt’s owner Mohamed Obaida, said: “He has improved with every race and Jimmy says that he is going the right way.

“I wouldn’t want to get too carried away but he will win more races. He’s a good-looking colt with plenty of size.”
