ISEQ in the black
It was another morning in the black for the ISEQ today, thanks in large part to strong performances from financial and construction stocks.
Of the banks, Bank of Ireland saw a 9c rise to €13.24, while AIB was up 8c to €17.91. Irish Life and Permanent rose 16c to €14.66. Anglo Irish Bank bucked the positive trend, falling 2c to €11.18.
Building materials group Readymix saw a 4c rise to €2.19 despite today's news of a 23% fall in profits in the six months to June 30, compared to the same period last year. Profits (excluding property disposals) were €7.6m, compared to €9.8m last year. Turnover, at €125.3m, increased by 2.9% compared to the first half of 2004.
Rival CRH saw a 19c hike to €22.94.
Meanwhile, builders McInerney and Kingspan both saw rises, up 4c and 1c respectively to €8.50 and €10.80.
