Barrichello leaving Ferrari
02/08/2005 - 17:45:52Rubens Barrichello is to leave Ferrari at the end of the current Formula One season.
The Brazilian will be replaced by countryman and Sauber driver Felipe Massa after Ferrari exercised an option in his contract – there are strong links between the Ferrari and Sauber teams.
A Ferrari statement on www.gazzetta.it read: “Ferrari has exercised a renewable option in the relationship that has linked driver Felipe Massa to the Maranello stable (Ferrari) since 2001.
“Furthermore, an agreement has been reached for a technical and sporting collaboration with Felipe for the 2006 season.
“Rubens Barrichello will leave the stable at the end of the 2005 season at the end of a fruitful collaboration which started in 2000, and which has led to five world constructors’ championships.”
