Gervais thrilled with Simpsons encounter
02/08/2005 - 14:30:43Golden Globe winner Ricky Gervais has revealed that writing an episode of 'The Simpsons' has seen one of his biggest ambitions realised.
He was invited to write and star in an episode of the cartoon, which will be screened in the US in March.
Ricky's character in 'The Simpsons' is based on David Brent from 'The Office' sitcom.
He moves into The Simpson household with Marge as the family take part in an episode of 'Wife Swap', while Homer moves in with his wife.
"It was like an audience with the Pope," Ricky said about his first meeting with the Simpsons team.
The 44-year-old called 'The Simpsons the best show on earth.
"It's audacious, it's clever, it's got heart," he said.
