Rangers move to top of table

31/07/2005 - 16:13:15
FT: Rangers 3 Livingston 0

Rangers moved to the top of the Bank of Scotland Premier League table with a 3-0 Ibrox dismissal of Livingston.

Dado Prso gave last year’s champions a half-time lead before summer signing Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan marked his debut with an unmissable second and Peter Lovenkrands wrapped up proceedings with a stoppage-time third.

Livi manager Paul Lambert’s managerial debut saw his side end the game with 10 men following the dismissal of Richard Brittain.

Buffel was replaced by Ross McCormack in the 71st minute.

Brittain was shown a straight red card three minutes later for hacking Murray down on the touchline after the home debutant had won a 50-50 challenge in the Rangers half. Brittain had raced to track his opponent down and referee Thomson ruled he had been reckless.

Novo was replaced by Charlie Adam with five minutes remaining before Thompson failed to beat McKenzie having been put clear.

Lovenkrands made it 3-0 in stoppage time to send Rangers above Hearts to the top of the table.
