Muntis: Depor deserved a bigger lead

29/07/2005 - 14:37:35
Deportivo La Coruna striker Pedro Munitis believes his side should be taking a much greater winning margin to Newcastle for the second leg of their Intertoto Cup semi-final.

Ruben Castro and Jorge Andrade scored the first-leg goals for Depor in their 2-1 win on Wednesday, but Lee Bowyer’s strike gave Newcastle hope for the return match next week.

And for Munitis, the narrow scoreline did not reflect the one-sided nature of the game.

“I believe that we did a lot better than the final result suggests,” he told Marca.

“But the match has left me with a very good feeling because in my opinion we were just as good in defence as attack and even though we still have things to work on it has all been very encouraging.

“I went home after the match feeling very happy, as much on a personal level as collective, because I believe that the game was a good sign for the future for us.”
